Chagallovi bylo 33 let, když ho
Ambroise Vollard požádal, aby vytvořil své první grafické tisky v
technice leptu. O třicet let později, když bylo Chagallovi 63 let,
přišel k pařížským tiskařům bratřím Mourlotům a začal se učit
technice litografie. Do svých 98 let vytvořil v grafických
technikách monumentální dílo, obsahující několik tisíc
mistrovských prací, které dodnes udivují svým rozsahem a
jedinečností.
Chagall was thirty-three years old when
Ambroise Vollard asked him to create his first graphic sheets by
using the technique of etching. Thirty years later Chagall aged
sixty-three came to Mourlot brothers, Paris printers, and started
to study the technology of litograph. Until he was ninety-eight he
created monumental graphic work containing thousands of
masterpieces which still fascinate with their extent and
uniqueness.
